We firstly recommend a water and stain protector product, such as "Waproo" or "UGG® protector" to preserve and protect boots, shoes, gloves, hats, and other leather products. This will repel water while permitting the leather to breathe and help guard against stains.
Additionally, it is important to use the right type of shampoo and conditioner when it comes time to clean your sheepskin and wool products. So why use a special shampoo?
Pure wool has a coating of protein over and around each fibre. This acts as a shield against wear and tear on your sheepskin product, as well as contributing to the air circulation between the fibres which give sheepskin and woolen products their therapeutic properties.
Incorrect detergents which contain enzymes, phosphates, peroxide, or alkili, can strip away this natural protein and cause irreversible damage to the leather and wool fibres. We recommend the use of specially designed care products, such as "Woolskin" Shampoo and Woolwash with conditioner.
While being gentle enough for everyday home use, "Woolskin" Shampoo and Woolwash boasts hospital standard antibacterial properties. "Woolskin" products are also water based and completely biodegradable. The ingredients include a blend of conditioning agents to lubricate the sheepskin and maintain its distinct lustre and softness. In addition, our recommended cleansing products contain tea tree oil, effective against dust mites.
